Sukanya

My name is Sukanya Harshvardhan, and I got into Indian School of Business thanks to Admit Expert.

After 2 years of working as a software engineer in a Med-Tech company in Banglore, I realized a core technical role just wasn’t for me. I worked on automation and devops. Additionally, I was also involved in tasks to facilitate product outreach into global markets, which required stakeholder management. While I had a good grasp of technicalities, I also had developed a set of soft skills in terms of management and communication that I felt could be used beyond the scope my professional role.
I wanted to make a switch to a role or industry where I could use my skills up to its potential, as well as find frequent learning opportunities.
Consultancy, as a practice, seemed to tick all the boxes. But I wasn’t sure about which vertical to hop on to.

I decided to give pursuing an MBA a shot, as it would not only increase my chances of getting the role I desired, but also expose me to a diverse network of people whose experiences could help me streamline the direction in which I want to kick-off my consultancy career. I knew that I could also learn about alternatives to my desired role, which I would have access to the knowledge of such a vast array of people.

After giving my GMAT, I was a bit daunted by the entire process of school selection and application. It seemed like there were so many options and variations to those options. And with such decisions, one also has to consider the future implications these decisions create in terms of lifestyle and long-term plans.

I researched application consultancies (Ah, the irony) and reached out to Admit Expert. I explained my hopes and fears to them. I had a long conversation with Aseem Bansal about my prospects. I decided to take a chance and give it atleast one shot, because you miss a 100% of the shots you don’t take.

We got started right away with the school shortlist and application preparations. They let me pick a mentor based on their credentials. There was someone from the Admit Expert team always available for support. My mentor was a big support. She encouraged me. In fact, the entire process of application gave me deeper understanding of my goals and priorities.
I only applied to one school: ISB. It met all my criteria. Admit expert help me fine-tune my application essays. Once my application got shortlisted, they were immediately ready with support for interview prep. They arranged for mock interviews with credible panelists.

I had just landed in my native village when I got the acceptance email. I immediately texted my mentor. Its been almost 2 months since Ive started my journey at ISB and I have nothing but gratitude for all the help Ive received from Aseem, Gunjan, Sivaranjani, Rohan and Sharini. I would definitely recommend anyone thinking about applying to b-schools to consult Admit Expert!
